Fall is upon us! And that means it’s time to get out of the house, out of the office and enjoy the beautiful Maryland weather.
Thanks to a program by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA), there are more than 250 free events for Baltimore residents to take advantage of during the month of October.
The 9th annual Free Fall Baltimore program aims to increase awareness of and participation in the city’s many cultural events. With options for adults and families alike, Free Fall Baltimore is a great way to spend your October out of doors.

Here are a few can’t-miss Free Fall Baltimore events:
Baltimore Rhythm Festival
Saturday, Oct. 4, 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m., 2640 N. Charles St.
For an interactive festival experience, make plans to check out the Baltimore Rhythm Festival. This popular festival, which is relaunching after a seven-year break, intends to connect individuals through rhythm and celebration. From kids’ drum circles to open jam sessions to tribal performances, this festival offers a variety of ways for the public to connect to rhythm, dance and music. Food and crafts will also be available. The event is free (of course!) but a VIP seat to the evening concert can be purchased for a recommended donation of $25.
Seton Hall French Fair
Saturday, Oct. 11, 12-5 p.m., St. Mary’s Park at 606 N. Paca St.
Seton Hall is known as Baltimore’s historic French Quarter. This family-friendly event will celebrate that heritage with what is described as a “fun, funky French-themed fair.” Featuring live music, art, puppets, a Flea market and French-style food and drink, this festival will offer something for every one to enjoy. Make sure you don’t miss the French maid race!
Friday, Oct. 19, 5-8 p.m., Center Plaza at 100 Charles Street
For a taste of Baltimore’s finest brews, make plans to attend Pint Fest. This free event features free beer tastings, $1 shucked oysters, lawn games and live music. Each brewery will offer a 4-oz. tasting. If you like what you taste, you can purchase a full-sized beer for $2. Featured breweries include:

The Art of the Ancient World Walk-In Tour
Sunday, Oct. 26, 1-2 p.m., Walters Art Museum at 600 N. Charles St.
The collection of art housed at the Walters Art Museum includes one of the largest collections of ancient art in the U.S. Whether you prefer to marvel at jewelry from ancient Egypt, marble statues from ancient Greece or bronze sculptures from ancient Rome, the Walters’ collection of ancient art is sure to thrill you. The museum is hosting free docent-led tours as part of Free Fall Baltimore. No reservations are required, and guests are encouraged to “just walk in and enjoy.”
Geo-Poe: A Literary Geo-caching Adventure and Reading
Wednesday, Oct. 29, 7-10 p.m., Westminster Hall at University of Maryland-Baltimore
Baltimore’s famed writer is the inspiration for this city-wide adventure. Fourteen writers will pen short stories about or inspired by Edgar Allen Poe’s mysterious death and hide clues to the stories across the city. Adventure seekers will be able to search for the next bit of the story using their mobile devices. On the final night, all the writers will gather at Poe’s resting place to read their completed stories. Ready…set…geo-Poe!
